My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar Contest - entry #2

You Could Be a Card Design Superstar Contest – 2016!

There are only 2 more days to get our maximum 3 entries in, so this will probably be my last for this contest.  It has been fun to put together cards using MFT products and somewhat of a challenge, too, since I don't have a large supply of products.

I made this card using the Flashy Florals card kit, Absolutely Fabulous dies, and a circle die.  To get the sentiment and circle cut out the way I wanted, I used a partial die cutting technique.  That way, the card top was in one piece before I added the flowers.  Inks and papers used were from the Flashy Florals kit (cardstock and all except the yellow ink) and the Gumball Greeting Card kit (yellow ink).  Pretty Pink Posh sequins were used in the shaker.  To give the card more dimension and room for "shaking", I used two layers of foam tape.
Thanks for taking a look.

My Favorite Things Card Design Contest, 1st entry

This card is made using the My Favorite Things Jungle Friends Card Kit supplies.  I just love being able to make interactive cards and these critters are so darn cute!

And here's the card with the giraffe slid up - he's trying to get to the upper leaves - yum!

I used Kuretake gansai tambi watercolors to paint the tree trunks and giraffe.  Felt was used for the mane and googly eyes were added for a final fun touch.
Thanks for taking a look!

PPP Rainbow Challenge and Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop entry

Today I'm combining two challenges:  the Pretty Pink Posh Rainbow Challenge and the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

Here is the inspiration photo for the PPP Challenge:

                               Pretty Pink Posh: Rainbow Challenge
My card is inspired by Shannon's  (the sequin rainbow).

The image and top sentiment are from Create a Smile's Coffee First stamp set.  The bottom sentiment is from Create a Smile's Monster party stamp set.  I've colored using Zig watercolor brushes and added Pretty Pink Posh sequins to the left side of the cup.  Tim Holtz watercolor paper was used, and the die is Pretty Pink Posh's Scalloped Rectangles. A black card base was used, with a white liner to allow for writing inside the card.

The Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop has asked for summer-themed cards, and the bright rainbow reminds me of a summer day.

Thank you for taking a look, and don't forget to check out the other amazing cards at both blogs!

Rainbow Card Challenge

I am excited to be participating in the Rainbow blog hop set up by Sandy Allnock. This is based on The Rainbow Card Challenge which was started by Dawn Woleslagle from Wplus9.  Dawn created a card using a rainbow of colors and then challenged 2 friends to do the same.  Those 2 friends tagged 2 more friends, etc, and here we are.

I've made a simple rainbow card with Zig Clean Color Real Brush watercolor pens. Tim Holtz's Distress Watercolor cardstock was used for the background, clouds, and rainbow.

Supplies:
Lawn Fawn Rainbow die
My Favorite Things Radiant Sun die
Paper Smooches Cute Clouds die
My Favorite Things Rainbow of Happiness clear stamps
Memento Black ink
Zig Clean Color Real Brush watercolor pens
Clear Wink of Stella
Gold textured cardstock for the sun

Thanks for taking a look, and happy hopping!
The next one  in line is Ellen B, but if you want to start from the beginning, here's Sandy's link.  The complete list is also below.
Sandy will be choosing 5 random commenters on Wednesday night to get a little pack of crafty treats in the mail, so be sure to go leave comments all over! ðŸ™‚

Sparkle & Shine Challenge #29

The challenge over at Sparkle and Shine is sponsored by Create a Smile, and our inspiration photo is:

This is such a beautiful spring bouquet of flowers!  For my entry, I made a spring bouquet using Technique Tuesday's Bouquet.  I colored using Prismacolors (first time using them - they are my daughter's) and gamsol to soften the look.  The ball jar is from Flourishes Garden Picks.  Sentiment is also from the TT Bouquet clear stamp set.  Frame is Pretty Pink Posh's Scallop Frames, and sequins are also PPP.  Frame is popped up with foam tape, but the stamping and coloring are done right on the card base.  I was trying for a single layer CAS look but I thought it needed the extra bit of shine from the frame.

Sparkle and Shine Challenge Sponsored by Right at Home

The challenge over at Sparkle and Shine is sponsored by Right at Home, and has us using this inspiration photo.  I immediately thought of my Mom, purple being her favorite color and Mother's Day just around the corner.  So, I used a large circle to highlight some lavender flowers.

This is what I came up with:
Here are the supplies used:
Neenah Solar White Cardstock  (80 lb)
SSS Stitched Rectangles and Circles dies
Altenew Vintage Flowers stamp set
Basic Grey Granola All Natural/Division B2 stamp set (leaves)
Technique Tuesday Today Flower stamp set (sentiment)
SSS Thistle and Wisteria dye inks
MFT Lavender Fields dye inks
PPP Sparkling Clear Mix sequins
Zots Bling Glue Dots (to adhere the sequins)
Fun Foam

Thanks so much for visiting!

Sparkle & Shine Challenge #27

The Sparkle & Shine Challenge 27 is sponsored by Create a Smile stamps, and our inspiration photo is the following:

I just love all the bright polka dots on this umbrella!  My take on it is:

The umbrella for this shaker card was cut out using a Silhouette file, and I colored the outlined image with copics before inserting back into the cut out area.  The main shaker part is popped up over a strip of patterned paper from Echo Park's Everyday Eclectic 6x6 paper pad.  Sequins and clear droplets are from Pretty Pink Posh, and the sentiment is from Create a Smile's Bad Day stamp set.

This was so much fun to make, and I really like the way it turned out!  Thanks for taking a look!

Sparkle and Shine Challenge #26

This Sparkle and Shine Challenge is sponsored by Right at Home, and our inspiration photo is the following:

I kept with the Spring/Easter theme and overall color scheme and made this card:

I used:
Jillibean Soup's eggcellent clear stamp set colored with copics
Simon Says Stamp stitched circle die
Background stamped using My Mind's Eye Indie Chic Ginger "Pictures" chevron border clear stamp and the Misti tool
Fun foam on the zig zag card front with the circle set in
Lawn Fawn grassy border die cut out of textured white cardstock and inked with Lawn Fawn ink pad
Pretty Pink Posh sequins (flower sequin colored with copics to match the orange)
Twine from stash

This was a fun card to make - I love the color combo!

Sparkle and Shine Challenge 24

The latest challenge at Sparkle and Shine is to use this inspiration photo.  The sponsor is Right at Home, a wonderful online store!

My take on this photo is below.  I loved the chevron pattern and bight splashes of color, so I incorporated those elements into my card.
I used the following Pretty Pink Posh items:
Scalloped Frames Dies
Stitched Speech Bubbles
Stamptember Exclusive Friends Balloon stamp and die set
Iridescant star confetti
Also, Create a Smile Happy Birthday sentiment

The card is a little busy, but I like it because it is fun - will be great for a dog lover or child!
Thanks for taking a look!

Here's a second entry for the PPP Valentine Challenge.  I used the same basic design as my first entry, changing up the sentiment and making the center heart a shaker.

                                         valentinechallenge

I used a combination of Lisa's heart and Liz's shakers for this one.

Create a Smile arrows background stamp
Spellbinders Original Heart die
Martha Stewart red and gold embossing powder
Pretty Pink Posh red and gold heart confetti

Sparkle and Shine Challenge 23 and PPP Valentine Challenge

There's a beautiful inspiration photo for the Sparkle and Shine Challenge 23. It makes me very hungry for cookies and milk!!  (I think I'll bake some tonight)
This challenge is sponsored by Create a Smile Stamps - be sure to check out the wonderful items in their online store!

My version is very similar, using the red and white color scheme, hearts and envelopes.
I cut two "Sending" sentiments, one of the red cardstock used for the scalloped heart and one of shimmer silver cardstock.  I thought using them with a shadow effect stood out more than either of them alone.  The card front is popped up off the card base, as well as the red banner and "Sen" of "Sending" (to keep it flush with the rest of  "Sending").  Otherwise the profile is lower so I can send it easily through the mail.

Items used:
Simon Says Stamp: stitched rectangle die, Sending Happy Thoughts stamp set and coordinating die
Sizzix Tipsy Hearts Originals Die: white center heart
Marvy Uchida Craft Punch: scalloped heart
Create a Smile Stamps:  arrows background stamp
Martha Stewart:  sterling and lady bug embossing powder
Pretty Pink Posh:  red heart confetti

I would also like to enter this into the Pretty Pink Posh Valentine Challenge
                        valentinechallenge

Lisa's heart card was my inspiration

Sparkle & Shine Challenge 22

I'm back for another of Sparkle & Shine's challenges.  This one is sponsored by Right at Home and asks us to use the following picture for inspiration:

Lately, I've been enjoying using black, grey, and white with just a touch of color.  I also really like making winter cards, so this challenge was loads of fun for me!
I kept to the overall look of the inspiration picture:

The supplies used are:
Lifestyle Crafts nesting circles die
My Favorite Things Snowfall background stamp
Martha Stewart dove embossing powder for the snowfall stamp
Technique Tuesday Berries stamp set for the branches and sentiment
Basic Grey think green clear stamp set for the bird
My Favorite Things black ink pad
Lawn Fawndamentals red ink pad
Zig Clean Color Real Brush in geranium red
Black fine liner pen for bird's eye and legs
Foam tape, acrylic sheet
Pretty Pink Posh seed beads, both white and clear

Sparkle and Shine Challenge 21

Here's the inspiration photo for Sparkle and Shine's challenge 21.  There are new sponsors this year, and the one for this challenge is Create a Smile!   I don't have any of their stamp sets yet, but my daughter has a few and they are awesome! (I borrowed hers for this challenge and will definitely need to get some for myself)

I have a few winter birthday cards to make, so I decided to use this as an opportunity to get one of them done.  Here's my take on the photo:

Since it is winter, instead of balloons I used snowflakes.  Supplies are:
  • Create a Smile Smiling Snowflakes stamp set
  • Create a Smile's 29 again stamp set for the sentiment
  • Simon Says Stamp inks:  wisteria, hot mama, blue jay
  • Martha Steward sterling embossing powder: sentiment and stripes on card base
  • Green Frog Tape to tape of sides of card base to make embossed stripes
  • Pretty Pink Posh's silver star sequins
  • Foam tape to pop up snowflake stamped card top
Thanks for taking a look, and be sure to check out all the wonderful cards from the design team and entrants!
