CHNC Challenge 222

The challenge this week at CHNC is to "stick it any which way you like".  I had fully intended to upload this card for last week's challenge, which was to include music in some way.  If you look closely, you will see that the patterned paper has faded sheet music on it.  However, I missed the deadline - didn't have my time conversion right.  Lucky for me, my card also works for this week's challenge.
For this card, I have sequins glued to the front patterned paper which is adhered to a card base.  . My papers are from the My Mind's Eye Holly Jolly 6x6 paper pad collection.  The sentiment (not sure where this is from) was heat embossed on the front and sequins from Pretty Pink Posh were added for sparkle. Lastly, I used a brown copic spica glitter pen to add faux stitching around the edges.  A simple card that will easily go through the mail.
If you haven't already done so, be sure to check out the CHNC challenges - they are tons of fun, will provide beautiful inspiration, and you will get a head start on your Christmas cards for later this year!

Daily Marker 30 day Coloring Challenge

Here is another project I made for the 30 day coloring challenge.  I was practicing coloring flowers, which is one of my favorite things to color.  (They seem to be easier than coloring people.)  I stamped and colored the flowers using just 2 copic colors.  I also colored additional flowers to layer on top.  The stamp set is from unity- their Itty Bitty "Each Moment is Success" set.  I just added some polka dot washi, pretty pink posh star sequins and ribbons.  The tag holder is shown in back of the tag.  It's just a pouch with patterned paper as a border where the tag slides in.

Paper Issues challenge cards

These are a couple of quick cards I made for the Paper Issues challenges that will be ending Sunday at midnight EST.  The event was live last week end, and was so much fun!  We have until this week end to complete our projects.
This first one is the "under 15 minute card with no using stamps" challenge.  I used some die cuts and ribbon from my stash.  I took about 5 minutes to assemble, but nearly 10 minutes to find the corner punch.

The next card is for the challenge using only small bits of items - no larger than 2x2 inches each, except for card base and narrow strips.  For this one, I pulled out some very old rub-ons and ribbon.  I imagine it will fit the requirements, since the rub-ons are much less than 2 inch squares.  It is simple, but I like it.  I hope you do, too.

Thanks for taking a look!

UmWowStudio March sketch

I'm still using my Nature Walk papers and die cuts for a small, 6x6 album of "my favorite things". This layout is using the March sketch from UmWowStudio.  The photos are of my son and his first new car.  (My children are definitely some of my favorite things.  The focus is on the car, though, because this child doesn't really like his picture taken)

Here's the sketch, below:

I started by painting some gesso on the background paper and 3 tags, then used the UmWow checkerboard mask and molding paste for texture on the background paper.  All papers, tags, and die cuts are from the Nature Walk  collection at UmWowStudio.  The flair is also from UmWow.  I added a little touch of color with gros grain ribbon splattered with gesso and brushing some Memento teal zeal ink on the banner, the stars, and the large tag.

Thank you for taking a look!

You'll be inspired by each stop of the hop.The theme, "Lucky to Call You Friend" will be evident in the projects of Julie and her friends. Many of the talented ladies have blog candy to give away on their blogs, so watch for that, and follow the individual rules on their blogs for how to win it.

Here is the complete hop list:

Ruth - http://ruthscraftyplace.blogspot.com  (You are here)

This card uses a Technique Tuesday stamp from the Tree-mendous clear stamps collection and lots of wonderful UmWowStudio chipboard.  The shamrocks are DeeDee's shamrock confetti and the lucky sentiment is from UmWowStudio, as well.  Shamrocks were heat embossed with Zing (fluorescent green) and Stampendous (Pearlustre Emerald) embossing powders. The sentiment is from Unity Stamp's Hugs & Kitties Kit.  I replaced the "Happy" in the stamp with the "lucky" chipboard sentiment.

This card uses stamps and sentiment from Flourishes' Grab a Cup stamp set. The cup image was colored using copics with spica added to the flower centers.  The tea bag background is stamped using Versamark. The tag die (Stitched Duo 3) and sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh.

It's time for the next stop on the hop, which is Miwa's,  http://miwannascrap.blogspot.com/2015/03/julies-blogoversary-blog-hop-fwf-12_19.html.  Have fun, and thanks so much for participating!

Sparkle and Shine Challenge #2 (second card)

This is my second card for the Sparkle and Shine challenge, sponsored by Winnie and Walter.

This card also uses the Pretty Pink Posh Stitch Duo 3 die and sequins.  The stamp and sentiment are Unity Stamp's Itty Bitty set, Mother's Day Daisies.  I colored it with copics and added clear Wink of Stella to the hearts.  A bit of twine and ribbon finished off the card.  It's hard to tell from the picture, but the gold background is popped up from the green base using fun foam, and the eyelet was put through both layers of the tag.

Thanks for taking a look, and be sure to check out the Sparkle and Shine Challenge blog!

Sparkle and Shine Challenge #2

Challenge #2 at Sparkle and Shine is a wonderful sketch challenge sponsored by Winnie and Walter:

There were many beautiful cards made by the Winnie and Walter design team to give us inspiration!  I really like sketches, and this one was so much fun.

This card uses 3 stamps from Flourishes' Grab a Cup stamp set, colored with copics.  The tea bag stamping on the card base was done using Versamark and sentiment is stamped with memento ink. I added some brown spica to the centers of the flowers and sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.   The tag die is also from Pretty Pink Posh -Stitched Duo 3.  Satin ribbon is from my stash.  It's hard to tell from the picture, but the tag is popped up with foam tape.

The Daily Marker 30 day coloring challenge

I had every intention of coloring a little each day since this started on March 4th, but this is the only thing I have to show, so far.  I followed along with the day one video and improvised with some different copic colors and bird image.  I like the texture we got by using a scrap of terry cloth wet with colorless blender and dabbed on the image after coloring.  My bird image is less whimsical, but I am happy with the way it turned out.  I'm pretty slow at coloring and didn't pay lots of attention to staying inside the lines, as you can see on the first bird.  (I cleaned it up a little with colorless blender).  It was fun - my daughter and I were coloring at the same time, but she's much faster and gets better blending (and stays inside the lines better!)
The birds are from an on-line copic coloring class my daughter and I took this summer.  I'm not sure if I'll use either on a card or just keep for future reference.

Thanks for taking a look, and if you haven't already, visit Kathy's blog and see the many projects posted under the Daily Marker 30 day coloring challenge.  Tons of inspiration!

CHNC challenge 220 - use some black

I put together 2 very quick and easy cards for this week's Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas challenge.  I've been trying to use up some of my older supplies, and found these thick snowman rub-ons from Michael's.  I just added sentiments, and stamped hearts to the one card and green gems to the other to dress them up just a little.  These will be going through the mail, so I didn't want them to be too fussy or thick.
If you haven't already, check out the CHNC challenge blog - you'll find lots of great inspiration and super prize giveaways.

Sparkle and Shine Challenge

Thanks for checking out the first post on my new blog!

                                                      Our Challenge Badge

This card is for the March Sparkle and Shine Challenge.  This is their very first challenge and I am excited to participate!  I was inspired by the central image of the shamrock and the surrounding sparkle of sequins.  My interpretation is a central floral image shaker card with added sparkly sequins on the outside.  Sequins used are from Pretty Pink Posh, seed beads are from my stash.  Stamp ("round and round") and circular die are from Papertrey Ink.  Distress Markers were used on the stamp itseself to color the image.
